..when a mainstream Hindi film hits the main Apple trailers page. I guess having mainstream Hollywood studio as a producer has some advantages. I must say, watching a hindi movie trailer in high resolution is a welcome change from having to catch em on YouTube:); especially this one since... say what you will about (in my opinion, the really good, but still really over-rated) Sanjay Leela Bhansali , the man knows how to create gorgeous looking frames. In what will come as a shock to people who know me well, I haven't got around to watching this movie yet (yes, though its been out for 5 days!:)) I have a sneaking feeling I'll be slightly disappointed by it though. When you expect to be disappointed though, can you really still be disappointed? Yes, this is how I waste my braincells.

Greenspan on the Daily Show: the portion on monetary policy (in the beginning) was like a flashback to Macro .Loved it! I really like Jon Stewart and his detached, look-I'm-poking-fun-at-authority-because-I'm-kinda-smart-and-curious brand of humor. But he seemed to doubt the free market there for a little bit...tsk, tsk. :) Ooo..favorite Stewart/Carell/Colbert moment from the last Emmys (enjoy it while it lasts on YouTube): While I'm embedding videos anyway, here are two more; new Pepsi commercials in India. I love it when movie stars are willing to acknowledge they're old. Also, at this point I'm comfortable saying with some confidence that the average Indian TV advertisement is better than the average US TV advert....if you get em.:) Hmm...someone seems to be taking down advertisements from Youtube too. Seriously, who wouldn't want their ads to be distributed more?

I hadn't seen a Hindi movie in a theatre in a while, so was glad a whole bunch of people made it down to the suburbs to catch Cheeni Kum . It was definitely one of the funniest Hindi movies I've seen in ages. Amitabh, Tabu and Paresh Rawal are excellent, but what really stood out for me was the quality of the writing and jokes. I don't think I've laughed as consistently at a Hindi comedy in a while, and the character development was truly, truly excellent. Pretty incredible for anyone, but especially for a first-time director. Also last week caught the two "3"s that were released. Yup, I have really totally checked out. Saw the Pirates series finale and Shrek 3 back to back. Pirates: eeh..; it was ok, but not great, kinda like the second. Shrek 3 was a blast. Thought it was better than the second.

Oh dear God!! This is so frikking cool, I'm not sure what to do. I'll probably rarely use this, but I can't even believe the technology is good enough to do this, and to see it rolled out and integrated in to Blogger!!! And so easy to use!! Whoa... The feature is Transliteration and I learnt about it at ContentSutra (that's a good name for an Indian tech site; almost as good as Alootechie :)) Anyway, I should explain. Look at the heading. I just typed in "Satyajeet", but with the push of one button it became सत्यजीत . It's not the perfect translation into Devnagri , but it's pretty damn close! Now, I've really lost the ability to write in Devnagri; well not really, but I probably write at the level of a 10-12 year old (and not a very bright 10-12 year old.) I wrote two Hindi plays once in college and though the dialogue was all in Hindi, I had to write it in the Roman script , because writing in Devnagri would have taken me too long. Someone...

I loved this movie . I don't understand why so many people I talked to thought it was just average, while I couldn't help feeling this might be one of the best movies I'd watch this year. Ehhh... all art is subjective I guess.
